New MTB Trails 2025
First Mountain Bike Trail Now Open

Exciting news for mountain bikers in the Gaylord-Grayling area and beyond! Forbush Corner Nordic has officially opened its first professionally built mountain bike trail. The trailhead is located on the east side of the parking lot near the vault toilets. Signage guides riders to downhill lines and the loop back to the trailhead. Completing both downhill loops and the return brings the ride to approximately 1.8 miles, with each downhill loop measuring a quarter mile. While some soft spots remain, frequent riding will firm up the trail for smoother rides.

These trails were built to International Mountain Bike Association (IMBA) standards, ensuring high-quality construction with proper trail dimensions, berms, turns, and jump landings. Flowtrack MTB, one of the Midwest’s premier trail builders, brought these plans to life, creating a riding experience unlike anything else in the region. The trails feature fast rollers, flowy singletrack, and even a few art installations.

This is the phase one of the mountain bike project. The total campaign goal is $400,000, which will fund approximately eight miles of trails designed for riders of all skill levels. Generous supporters—including the Grayling Visitors Bureau, Michigan Trails and Greenways Alliance Catalyst Fund, Weyerhaeuser, Paddlehard Brewing, Northbound Outfitters / Cross Country Ski Shop, and the Brook Retirement Community of Grayling have made this possiable.

Forbush Corner Nordic is currently in the process of applying for grants to help fund expansion and also invites the community to help complete the trail system. Contributions will support sustainable, professionally built trails that will be enjoyed for generations. Donations can be made via PayPal at https://paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/3939852 or by mailing a check to PO Box 118, Gaylord, MI 49734.

Exciting News: A Major Boost for Forbush Pump Track!

While the snow is beginning to fly and we are busy preparing for an incredible season of skiing and snowshoeing, our vision for year-round recreation at Forbush continues to grow.

It was wonderful to see the community enjoying the first mile of our new Mountain Bike (MTB) trails this past autumn. To keep that momentum going, we are thrilled to announce a major step forward in our fundraising efforts.

We have received a generous $4,600 grant from the Otsego Community Foundation!

This funding will go directly toward the construction of our new Pump Track. We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the specific funds and organizations that made this grant possible:

  • The Kohnert Family
  • The CWIK "Holly by Golly" Fund
  • The Kiwanis Club of Gaylord

Help Us Cross the Finish Line This grant brings us closer to our vision, but we aren't there yet. Our total fundraising goal for the project is $25,000.

If you enjoyed the trails this fall or want to support youth cycling in our community, please consider donating. Every contribution helps us build a better outdoor experience for everyone.

Donations can be made via PayPal at https://paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/3939852 or by mailing a check to PO Box 118, Gaylord, MI 49734.
